Biometric Leadership Development: Using Wearable Devices to Train Leaders’ Stress Regulation

Abstract

Perkembangan lingkungan kerja modern yang ditandai oleh kompleksitas tinggi dan tekanan pengambilan keputusan meningkatkan risiko stres fisiologis pada pemimpin, yang terbukti berkorelasi dengan penurunan kualitas kognitif dan regulasi emosi dalam konteks organisasi. Stres kerja secara fisiologis tercermin melalui perubahan detak jantung dan penurunan variabilitas denyut jantung (heart rate variability/HRV), yang secara empiris diidentifikasi sebagai indikator objektif kapasitas regulasi stres individu. Selain itu, gangguan pola tidur terbukti berhubungan signifikan dengan penurunan fungsi eksekutif, stabilitas emosi, dan kualitas kepemimpinan interpersonal. Seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi digital, wearable device memungkinkan pemantauan biometrik real-time seperti detak jantung dan pola tidur dengan tingkat akurasi yang memadai untuk evaluasi kesehatan psikofisiologis berkelanjutan. Pemanfaatan data biometrik real-time dalam intervensi berbasis biofeedback dilaporkan efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran diri dan kemampuan regulasi stres individu secara signifikan. Dalam konteks kepemimpinan, kemampuan regulasi stres pemimpin berkontribusi langsung terhadap peningkatan efektivitas kepemimpinan, kualitas pengambilan keputusan, dan kepercayaan tim. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mensintesis literatur ilmiah mengenai konsep Biometric Leadership Development, khususnya pemanfaatan wearable device berbasis data biometrik real-time untuk melatih regulasi stres pemimpin serta implikasinya terhadap efektivitas kepemimpinan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berbasis narrative literature review dengan analisis tematik terhadap literatur internasional bereputasi yang membahas wearable technology, regulasi stres fisiologis, dan efektivitas kepemimpinan. Hasil sintesis konseptual menunjukkan bahwa integrasi data detak jantung dan pola tidur dalam program pengembangan kepemimpinan berpotensi meningkatkan self-awareness fisiologis, memperkuat kemampuan regulasi stres adaptif, serta mendukung peningkatan kinerja kepemimpinan berbasis data. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pendekatan Biometric Leadership Development menawarkan paradigma baru dalam pengembangan kepemimpinan yang lebih objektif, personal, dan berbasis bukti ilmiah.
